Where to begin? I suppose we’ll start with the weather as usual. Our streak of absolutely glorious weather continues. The ever expansive Pacific Ocean looked like a smoky, hazy lake today. We hit several areas for Rockfish this morning ranging from the shallower waters of around 80 feet (which produced a beautiful Tree fish) to the deep end of the pool about 310 feet. The fishing was coming in flurries all day. We would hit a school of fish that wanted to bite and we’d start pulling in doubles. As fast as they turned on, they shut off again and made us wait. The fishing was productive for us and we landed some nice Yellowtails, Boccaccios and bottom fish. We also had our share of Starry and Gopher rockfish that hit the hooks as soon as the lines hit the bottom. Deckhand Alfredo was a champ, keeping the lines fishing in the deep.
On a side note, it was awesome to have Josh (cali_ling_king ) out fishing with us again. He hooked me up with a couple more custom lures today. I ended up catching a couple 4 lb Yellows and a 5 lb Vermillion with one of the 3.5 oz lures he brought me. His fishing lures are premium, so hit him up if you want to get more into Rockfish.
