This morning on the New Horizon with 18 anglers and Deckhand Daniel, we set out in the haze in search of rockfish. The sea was calm and the current was strong. We were getting pulled north at almost a full knot. I decided to head to the deep water outside of Cypress point hoping for the bottom fish to be a little cooperative. The current pulled us right along the outside edge of the reef which is great because the edges are where you can catch some really nice rockfish. We caught several yellows, some vermillions, coppers and topped off limits with starry rockfish. I was really hoping that the lings would help us out a little especially since we had several anglers working swim bates and pitching iron all day. I think we ended up landing 5 keeper lings for the day.
