Our long lost Deckhand Daniel Gross has returned from Alaska like the prodigal son! I was very excited to go fishing with him again.
We’re feeling pretty good about today. This morning we set off in hot pursuit of the elusive Monterey bay halibut. We had a super light load of only 3 anglers, but, we’re game and we’re going to go anyways. Great weather and bait again this morning. We easily stuffed our tank with sardines, squid, Spanish mackerel and Pacific mackerel. We hit several areas of the beach with no luck, so we decided to fish right on the edge of some rock piles. Our day turned around really nicely landing 4 beautiful halibut, 3 lings, and 15 fat rockfish. The biggest halibut was 21 lbs if you were wondering.
After a long weekend and a lot of fun, I need to get some sleep and prepare for the adventure facing me tomorrow. A little bird whispered in my ear that we’re taking the Pacifica to explore the deep blue for ALBACORE!
