CHUBASCO:
I don’t know that an opener has ever been so perfect. So many familiar faces I’ve missed over the last 3 months, beautiful weather and damn good fishing. Big reds and canary’s all day with the yellows and olives sprinkled throughout. 9 Ling cod and 173 rockfish.
Captain JJ Raz of Chubasco.
P.S. had 4 Halibut come up, all undersized but a good sign for future halibut trips.
NEW HORIZON:
We couldn’t have picked a better day to open the Rock fish season. The Pacific was a giant blue mirror which was only occasionally disturbed by a breath of air or a random wake from the other boats. The fish were excellent quality too! Big reds, big yellows and 5 keeper lings. Today was an incredible day for drifting outside of Point Sur. 20 anglers on board with 200 beautiful Rock fish to kick off the season.
