Sometimes you go to work and it’s not work at all. Today was beautiful, calm, and fun. We had 5 anglers who really picked the right day to go on a trip. We pulled 40 Dungeness crabs, 3 Rock crabs, 7 Petrale sole and about 120 Sand dabs. After pulling crab pots we made way towards our fishing area. Halfway through the commute I could hear a commotion from the back of the boat. I slowed the boat down to figure out what the ruckus was about and it turns out our fishermen spotted a pod of 5 Gray whales and they wanted a look. I was happy to come around for them to snap some pictures and take in the view. After our pseudo whale watching trip, it was time to get some dabs in the boat. The fish were biting for us and the guys got several stringers of dabs. Deckhand Kevin even managed to get 2 sole on one line today.
Everything went our way today and it makes me feel like I couldn’t ask for anything more.
