I love it when a plan comes together. Today was a beautiful day with a bounty of fish and crab. Fishing started slow for our 9 anglers but it came around for a steady trickle of fish coming into the boat. We limited out on Rockfish (couple of big Verms and Canaries) around noon and set out for our crab pots. The first pot 0…. second pot 0…. third pot……..0! What!? What’s going on here? I started grumbling under my breath as the empty pots made their signature hollow thud on the deck. I really didn’t want to watch the fourth pot come to the surface. The fourth pot made a different sound than its predecessors. Thud first then the clattering of chitin colliding with chitin. Crabs! Six crabs in the fourth pot. We were finally on the board and heading in the right direction. We ended our trip with limits of Rockfish, 2 Lings and 54 crabs. 6 crabs a piece for our 9 anglers. Deckhand Andrew and our crew had big smiles and big bags.
