First day of crab fishing for us here at J&M. Today we headed west of the point to see if we could knock out our limits of rockfish so we had plenty of time to pull our crab pots. The fish were up and they didn’t disappoint. Our guys took a few minutes to get the hang of it, but, when they did, it was lights out. Limits of blues, yellows and olives for 23 fishers in about an hour and a half. Lots of fun and lots of smiles. The crabbing, however was a different story. …… Several of our pots had been raided by some scoundrels. Our line weights and bait baskets were taken from most pots. The pots that weren’t touched had between 1-4 crabs. Unfortunately we ended light on the crabs with a total of 15 keepers. We relocated all of the pots that had been tampered with to hopefully avoid the bandits tomorrow. Thankfully everyone on the boat had a great time and didn’t let the stolen crabs get ’em down.
