Today was kind of an unusual day. Deckhand Reed and I set off with 14 anglers looking for some rockfish on our 4 hour morning trip. The weather was a little peculiar as we had wind coming from the north and current swirling around outside the point. Every time we got some fish to bite the current would change and we would deviate from the intended drift. We went shallow and got some fish to bite a little bit, but, the drift went to nothing and we weren’t moving at all. The fish like a little movement so they shut off again. In a last ditch effort we went west of the point again near where we started and got a few more to bite. We ended up around half limits for the boat. Some of the anglers caught their limits after constantly working. We stayed 40 minutes late to pad the bags a little bit more, but we eventually had to call it a day. Now we’re gearing up for the 2 pm 4 hour trip. Hopefully the weather has normalized.
