Let’s get this blog thing on track. I didn’t realize how many anglers read my blog and how many trips I didn’t post a blog for. Sometimes as a Captain you get busy, you get side tracked or you see something shiny and totally go off the rails. Anywho, my apologies to anyone who has been fishing with me on days I didn’t post a blog or for the folks that look forward to it.
So, here we we go for today’s combo crab and dab trip report. 12 Anglers, Deckhand Kevin, and myself were prepared to go the distance today. We had a crew of great people on board who were a blast to fish with. We had a special return visit from a couple who loves adventure and fishing . Ciara and Justin were out with us to celebrate Ciara’s birthday and I tell you what, the Ocean didn’t disappoint. The crabbing was fair at 25 crabs, but the fishing was lights out! Welcome to the 400 club! We got over 400 dabs, 8 sole (2 caught by the birthday girl), and some Spanish mackerel to boot.
Aside from the fishing, everyone was very hopeful that we might have a chance to see some whales. I told everyone that we would detour if some were on our way or close by. Well, we ended up unable to keep track of our whale count after 50 or so. Whales were buzzing by the boat very close the entire time we were fishing. We also got to see hundreds if not over a thousand Risso’s dolphin. Unbelievable right?
On a side note, we always pick up mylar balloons when we encounter them as they are very detrimental to our Ocean. We just so happened to pick up a giant mylar balloon that said “Happy birthday”….. seriously.. what are the odds?
Today was I day that I won’t forget about for a long long time. Thank you all for reading and thank you for the support!
